Little Critter is the titular protagonist of the title book series of the same name and one of the official mascots of Golden Books. His first appearance was in the 1975 book Just For You.
It is never specified what type of animal Little Critter is, although many have theorized that he is a groundhog, hamster, guinea pig, wombat or porcupine.
Little Critter can be somewhat mischievous at times, but is otherwise very friendly and kind. He is shown to have a special bond with his parents. Although his sister can often annoy him, Little Critter enjoys playing with her and teaching her all kinds of different things.
Physical Appearance and Attire[]
In the first books Little Critter is seen undressed and doesn't wear any clothes in Just for You, Critter Kids series, Play with Me, and Merry Christmas Mom and Dad, except his pajamas. He is also seen undressed in When I get Bigger, Just Go to Bed, Just Me in the Tub. Later on, in When I get Bigger he is seen is seen wearing a green white striped shirt but no shoes or pants showing his frontal furry bottom, however, he does wear pants at the train station and wears overalls to school.
Current versions of Little Critter is seen wearing a shirt, overalls and shoes.
